There is a lack of volunteers in the
town for the many community groups, particularly those who can
volunteer in the day
There is a need for a multi purpose
community centre in Crowborough that provides a community meeting
place and combined cultural and community facilities
There is an anti social behaviour,
vandalism and graffiti problem within the town
The fear of crime is a real problem for
some local residents
Crowborough has a relatively high
number of accidents in the home particularly amongst the elderly.
The Primary Care Trust priority is to assist the elderly to
remain safely in their own home and to develop local support for
those individuals
Crowborough is a large and active town
with a range of different and varied interests groups trying to
meet all the needs of the community. There is a need for better
and more formal co-ordination of activities between the relevant
organisations in the town - a community partnership or forum
There is a need to co-ordinate the
children’s activities and services within the town and to
fill the gaps in local provision
Affordable housing of all types is an
issue, as it is throughout the South East
There is a lack of recreational and
playing field provision with clubs having to go elsewhere. The
difficulty is finding the land in a place that is so tightly
surrounded by protected area status
There are some areas for improvement in
health provision especially those that target the elderly living
in the community and those with mental health problems
The closure of the Aldene Centre
resulting in lack of facilities for young people in the
Alderbrook area. Need to have further survey of community needs
to identify issues
Threat to the youth provision
especially in Jarvis Brook through a lack of continued
funding
